Alcohol deaths are on the increase in both males and females!

+ For males, the percentage of deaths that are alcohol related has increased steadily since 1997 and now stands at 42%.  Between 2005 and 2006 there has been a 2 % increase.  (See Table)

+ For males, most age groups are demonstrating an increase in alcohol  involved deaths in the last few years.

For males 21-25 there has been a slight decline in the last two years despite a long term upward trend.

+ Males 16-25, while showing a slight rise the number of deaths do to alcohol in the last few years, the numbers are dramatically lower than the next oldest age group of 21-25.

+ For females, the percentage of deaths that are alcohol related was steady from 1998 thru 2003.

+ Since 2004 the percentage of deaths that are alcohol related for females has increase 5% and now stands at 28%.

+ For females, the 26-30 year olds have shown the larget increae in alcohol related deaths.
