+ In 2004 the number of fatalities dropped for the first time in 6 years.

+ The number of alcohol related fatalities went up slightly in 2004

+ Alcohol related fatalities went down by nearly 50% between 2001 and 1998.  Since then it has gone up dramatically again.

+ When observed as rates the lines have a slightly smaller increases after 1998 as compared to actual numbers.  This is due to the increase of population in California during this time.
