A large number of pedestrian deaths occur when a pedestrian is walking along a road or shoulder. See  Table





More males (492) die as a pedestrian than females (246).  (See  Table)

Between the ages of 16 to 55 males have many more pedestrian deaths than females.  (See  Table)












For male pedestrians, alcohol plays a major role in fatalities for the ages of  16- 65. (See  Table)


















For female pedestrians, alcohol plays a lesser role than for men except for the in fatalities for the ages of  46-50. (See  Table)





A pedestrian being killed  crossing a street with no crosswalk is very related to alcohol consumption by the pedestrian. (See  Table)

In 2005 there were 4304 traffic deaths in California, which was higher than 2004.
