Motorcycles deaths are on the rise, from 318 deaths in 2002 to 433 in 2006, a 36% increase in 5 years.

Alcohol related* motorcycle deaths increased 73% in five years.

Non-Alcohol related motorcycle deaths increased 21%.



* Alcohol Use means one of the drivers had consumed alcohol.  If a motorcyclist crashed with a car it may have been the car driver who had consumed alcohol.





Motorcycle Deaths by Hour of Collision and Alcohol Use




Motorcycles deaths that are alcohol related occur at different times than those that are not alcohol related.

+ Alcohol related* motorcycle deaths peak between 5PM and and 10PM and then rise again between Midnight and 2AM.

Non-Alcohol related motorcycle deaths increased 21%peak in the between noon and 5PM.
